We have noticed this behaviour in Tableau versions 2020.4.
When you navigate from the Dashboard to another sheet and then back to the Dashboard the UI container with the extension in it can hang. We have reported this to Tableau and it has been recorded in the forums – https://community.tableau.com/s/question/0D54T00000XfQDcSAN/why-does-the-ui-of-our-custom-visual-freeze-when-navigating-between-different-sheets-and-dashboards. They have an engineer assigned to look at it but it is still registered as a known bug.
If you get an error message like this – “The Eqolines extension (url: https://eqolines-dev.dataparq.com/Eqolines/dpq_si_eqolines.html) is not on the safe list for this site, and is therefore not allowed to run. Contact your server administrator to add this extension to the safe list”
Then you need to add Extension URL to the ‘Enable Specific Extensions’ area on Tableau server. This can be located in Settings >> Extensions
Refresh the dashboard to get the following message –
Click OK and the extension should now work
Our extension has been tested as far back to version 2019.1. If you are on an older version you should really be looking to upgrade as you are missing out on hundreds of new features and functionality
If you wanting to use the extension for non commercial use then you need to choose the Open Route service version (personal access key) . If it is for Commercial use then download the Eqolines version (15 day trial)
For using Isolines it only needs to connect to one. For using Journey Matrix and Geospatial filtering it needs two different ones, one for Source and one for Destinations
There are limitations depending on what key you are using. The details for this can be found on this link
Check that your latitudes and longitudes are the right way round. Latitudes should be something like 51.xx and Longitudes should be -0.1 or 0.2xx. Most common mistake is that they are the wrong way round
Bring the source sheet in as a floating object and then minimize it as much as possible using the arrow keys on the side. The map will usually ensure that the tiny box cannot be seen but it stays on the dashboard.
There is an icon in the bottom right of the dashboard that when you hover will tell you how much you have used
We have noticed that in some of the earlier version of Tableau (eg 2019.x) sometimes the export function isn’t working). Please raise a ticket and let us know what version you are working on should this happen
On the left hand side of the Tableau dashboard tab are two tabs Dashboard and Layout. Go to Dashboard and under Size switch the selection to ‘Automatic’
